Jules and Jane from the office met Gordon, Caroline, and Keith earlier this week, and spoke to many of the volunteers to find out how much hard work goes into making up the Christmas food parcels. The lead-up to Christmas is The Need Project’s busiest time of year. Christmas is traditionally the time of giving but The Need Project truly goes above and beyond this sentiment.
The project helps spread the festive cheer to struggling families with Christmas food hampers and gifts. The sheer amount of voluntary hours that go into what they do and the stories behind why they work so hard is truly humbling.
Currently based over the Christmas period at The Kings Baptist Church in Stotfold they are the biggest food bank in Central Beds providing £800,000 worth of food to the local community over the year. This month they will provide 11,000 food parcels. 65 volunteers have helped The Need Project to make up the Christmas food parcels, many volunteers coming from local children’s centres.
If you would like to help The Need Project with donations of festive treats (with a long shelf life) or donations of gifts for children, please drop them off at The Need Project, 36 High St, Stotfold, Hitchin SG5 4LL or call Gordon on 07952 765302 https://theneedproject.org/
